     Well-known specialist and expert in economy, economic geology, economics of commodities. Born in 1949 in Tbilisi. In 1971 graduated from M. Lomonosov Moscow State University. Obtained his PhD (1974) and Dr ex Sci.

(1984) degrees in Moscow State University. Author of 180 scientific works, including 16 monographs, published in Georgia, Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, USA, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Sweden, England, Netherlands, Japan, etc.

Editor and publisher of 5 international scientific issues published in Georgia, Russia, Germany and Netherlands. Author of numerous publicist articles. During decades investigated mineral resources of Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Bulgaria, and other countries. Investigated macroeconomy of commodities. Collaborated with well-known companies like COGEMA, Perrier Vittel SA, Eurasian Minerals, Inc. Leaded exploration campaigns in several countries and discovered significant (including gold) deposits. Investigated economics of Georgia, Southern Caucasus, and neighbouring countries. Collaborated with NATO in elaboration of the security concept for the Southern Caucasus. Headed NATO Advanced Research Workshop. Participated in state assessment of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline Project. Was Chairman of the Georgian State Department of Geology.
